Fall’s hit L.A. Perhaps you can sling a sweater over that sundress while you sip a ubiquitous pumpkin spice beverage.
Autumn’s other darling, the Apple, is guest starring on menus all over town.
For adults only, The Wallace in Culver City has added a Candy Apple Float dessert with caramel ice cream, apple whisky, cider, and ginger ale. Yum.
Also for 21 plus, Los Balcones in Hollywood adds a Peruvian twist with the Aqua de Loco, pairing Bonded Applejack, Rum, Orgeat, Agua de Loco, and Switchel.
Of course, what would L.A. be without some sort of post-SoulCycle or Bikram pressed juice? Our fave, CloverJuice, brings it home with The Gingersnap, Fuji and green apple, lemon, and, yes, ginger.
We wouldn’t leave you without some victuals to go along with the beverages, spiked or not! Tanzy Westwood has a Smoked Turkey Sandwich with Taleggio and apple fennel slaw on walnut bread. This is not your ho-hum turkey and Swiss with a spread of mayo!
Dinner time? Silverlake’s Cliff’s Edge is pairing Pan-Seared Scallops with roasted heirloom carrots, carrot navarin, vadouvan, apple, sea bean, peanut, cilantro, and lime.
And, of course, there’s apple pie on the menu! Brite Spot, the hippest diner in L.A., has a killer apple pie that we’re thinking might be perfect for upcoming Turkey Day festivities, available by the pie or by the slice, along with some other must do’s like Bourbon Pecan, Honey Whiskey, and Salted Honey pies. Yup, looks like pie season with a vengeance.
So, there you have it, from cocktails and green juice to sammies and pie, apples take over L.A.
