So you want to sunbathe and take advantage of NYC summer days but don’t want to spend your entire weekend travelling on the LIRR? Fortunately there are a few outdoor pools in New York City that are open to the public where you can escape the city heat and lounge to your heart’s content. They may be on the pricey side (day passes tend to cost $50 and over) but it’s definitely worth it when the humidity gets too much!
Here’s the lowdown:
Dream Downtown
The Dream Downtown boasts a 50ft glass bottomed pool and a 5,000 square foot pool deck with sand beach, a DJ boot and full-service bar. Take your pick of 70 Cote D’Azur-inspired chaise lounges and two private cabanas, then sit back and enjoy the sunshine! Pool is open 8am to 11pm. Passes are available to non-guests on weekdays only for $65.
Hotel Americano
The lesser known Hotel Americano in Chelsea offers a rooftop with pool that’s open to the public, which is free on some days or around $40 for a day pass on other days. The pool offers views of Manhattan and the Hudson River and while small, it gets pretty fun and lively on Friday evenings and weekends.
The Williamsburg Hotel
The spacious rooftop pool a the Williamsburg Hotel boasts breathtaking views, an outdoor pool, bar and café. Day passes are available from 11am to 6pm daily, with prices varying according to the day of the week. Monday through Thursday the price is $100 for a daybed, while from Friday to Sunday the price is $150.

Profundo Day Club
It’s all well and good visiting a hotel pool but in Manhattan they tend to be tiny and shaded by skyscrapers. Profundo Day Club in Queens may not be a hotel, but it is incredibly spacious with lots of day beds, cabanas and a good size pool. The atmosphere is a party atmosphere, so bring your most dazzling bikini and have your photo taken on one of the many fun pool floats. Moet & Chandon Ice Imperial and Froze are the drinks to order!
